Addiction is best understood as a soul’s loss of its supernal contact with its origin. Indeed addicts and alcoholics are referred to as lost souls. The Jewish mystical tradition of the Kabala teaches a lost soul may find its return and in so doing not only overcomes the psychological addiction and addictive behavior patterns but more importantly finds genuine peace and meaning in this life. There is today much confusion surrounding spiritual practices and it is often difficult to understand and process this subject in a way that makes personal sense. We subscribe to a tradition or Kabala that spans well over 5000 years that is practical and provides a universal path for all people. We are close to the Messianic age and this wisdom will be the universal solution for all of mankind where all nations will be united under the One Creator. Within this unique Kaballah there are rich insights into the nature of the psyche or mind and how to achieve higher states of consciousness for awareness of our spiritual identity that will completely remove all the desire for any mood altering substances.
Jewish addicts are seeking and we at Jewishaddicts.com desire to provide the network and the educational resources to link into the richness of the true spiritual path embodied in the Torah. We have instituted a faith based residential addiction program for anyone who desires a deeply spiritual approach to recovery from all addictions. We are developing a free downloadable audio series called the Rabbi and the Big Book which will be a page by page and even a word by word study of this classical text which is considered the foundation manual for all 12 Step programs. We also have a project which includes a 36 class series entitled Jewish Mysticism and the Twelve Steps. These audio series are givenby Rabbi Israel Burns MS, RMHCI who has practiced as a therapist, chaplain, and spiritual counselor treating dual diagnosis and co-occurring disorders such as bipolar depression, ADHD, OCD, and PTSD. He has been involved with intervention through Judaic pastoral counseling and 12 steps spirituality with addicts for over twenty-five years.
